MELOMAKARONA - without sugar


  • For the melomakarona:

    • 70gr honey

    • 220ml oil

    • 50 ml orange juice

    • zest 1 orange

    • 1 can of sweet cinnamon

    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

    • 1/2 teaspoon sweet baking powder

    • 100 ml of brandy

    • 500gr flour

    • nuts for sprinkling

  • For the syrup:

    • 250gr honey

    • juice of 1/4 lemon

    • 2 cinnamon sticks


Take a saucepan and pour in all the syrup ingredients. Turn on the high heat and leave the saucepan for 7 minutes. We wipe the eye and let it cool.

Take a bowl and put in the zest, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and flour and mix.

Take a second bowl and add the oil, honey, brandy and liqueur and mix for 2 minutes.

Then, pour this liquid mixture into the bowl with the flour and knead.

Make the melomakarona in shapes that we like and spread them in a pan with oil paste.

Bake them in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 30-35 minutes!

Once cooked, pour them into the pot of syrup and then take them out of it with a "strainer" and put them in a pan. Sprinkle with walnuts (if you want the taste of the walnut to be more intense, rub them in the grater, different pieces). Leave them for an hour, to absorb the syrup and soften. They are ready!
